Refunds
A credit on your account for Business and/or Property Taxes can occur for a variety of reasons; these can include but are not limited to the following:
- Successful Assessment Appeal
- Over payment
Property tax refunds resulting from a successful property assessment appeal the Board of Revision, the Municipal Board or a decision from the Court of King’s Bench will be made to the registered owner of the property on-record at the time the tax refund is to be made.
If you sell your property before the final disposition of the appeal, the refund will be sent to the registered owner of the property (the new owners).
It is recommended that you arrange for the redirection of the proceeds (refunds) from a successful appeal as part of your sale agreement.
Business tax refunds resulting from a successful appeal of the Annual Rental Value (ARV) from the Board of Revision, the Municipal Board or a decision from the Court of King’s Bench will be made to the business.
Tax refunds associated with an over payment or any other credit will be made to the current business and/or property owner on verification of who made the payment. This can be done through our customer service call centre at 311 or toll free 1-877-311-4974.
